David Bowie....Fill Your Heart

I love the lyrics in this song. It is perfect reminder that love frees the mind.
The song was written by Biff Rose and Paul Williams and performed by David Bowie.
I find this song so uplifting, I hope you enjoy it too.

Fill your heart with love today
Don't play the game of time
Things that happened in the past
Only happened in your mind
Only in your mind-forget your mind
And you'll be free-yea'
The writing's on the wall
Free-yea'. And you can know it all
If you choose. Just remember
Lovers never lose
'Cause they are free of thoughts unpure [sic]
And of thoughts unkind
Gentleness clears the soul
Love cleans the mind
And makes it free.
Happiness is happening
The dragons have been bled
Gentleness is everywhere
Fear's just in your head
Only in your head
Fear is in your head
Only in your head
So forget your head
And you'll be free
The writing's....

~ Helter Skelter~Siouxsie and the Banshees

I loved Siouxsie and the Banshees! I particularly liked their live version of Helter Skelter.
I went to see Marc Almond play at a gig year ago and to my delight Siouxsie was in the audience.
I always thought she was really beautiful. My sister looked very much like her when she was a teenager!

OK, this is a roller coaster and the queue to go on the helter skelter but this is close enough! :)

Lloyd Cole and the Commotions~ Perfect Skin

When I first heard Perfect Skin, I thought it was perfect. I had it as a vinyl single and I played it on repeat, driving my family mad! I still love it today.
Do you have songs that you can play and play and play and still not get fed up of them?
To me this is one such song!

Basically anything by George Ezra!

I love George Ezra's voice!
I heard him on the radio today and then I couldn't resist listening to more.
Budapest was the first song I heard. One of my favourites is Did you hear the rain?

Another classic is Cassy O!
If you haven't heard either of them they are well worth listening to.

Balrog Boogie~ Diablo Swing Orchestra

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqw8kfcVb4k

This song : Balrog Boogie by Diablo Swing Orchestra is just wonderful. What a voice, what beautiful instruments. I would love to see this band live!
The band has an interesting back story. The story goes that their ancestors in Sweden formed an orchestra to defy a church ruling. They were forced to go into hiding after secret performances.
If you have never listened to their music before, they are definitely worth checking out.

Three Little Birds made me feel better.

I came home and made the mistake of putting on The News.
I heard updates about the wall Trump wishes to build dividing USA from Mexico, I heard he wishes to allow extreme interrogation of suspects.
I heard about how some women are still being forced to wear high heels and make-up to keep their jobs and I heard that in UK homelessness is on the increase.

I phoned up G and had a bit of a rant and then I played this wonderful song:

I must admit it made me feel better.

It is important not to get swamped with News as you can lost perspective and ignore the good and wonderful things that are happening all around.
There are far more tolerant and caring people than there are judgemental and intolerant and I do believe that 'every little thing's gonna be all right!'
Thanks Bob x

Marc and the Mambas~In My Room

I love Marc Almond and have seen him live on a number of occasions.
This song performed by Marc and the Mambas really struck a chord with me when I hard it. I love music that tells a story and this song certainly does.

When I listened to it today it started me thinking about rooms that tell their own story.
I used to have a caravan in Capel-Le-Ferne and it was situated next door to this wonderful pub called The Lighthouse. They have a beautiful piano there and I often used to sit in the caravan and hear the music coming from one of the rooms.
I think the rooms in this lovely pub probably tell stories of their own.
Do you like songs that tell a powerful story?

Rockabye~ Clean Bandit, Sean Paul and Anne Marie

There is something about this song that appeals to so many.
For me it tells a story that many of us can relate to.
I first heard the song when I was stuck in a traffic jam by Dartford Tunnel.
It got me right away. Every time I hear it I still feel uplifted.

Music Inspires Us!

Music inspires us such a lot. There are many songs that have meant a lot to me over the years. This blog is a celebration of this music. I would love to hear what music touches you.
Today I am thinking about this wonderful song:
It's 'Don't You Worry Child'~ Swedish House Mafia featuring John Martin.

The whole song is great but the line that hit me most was:

'Don't you worry child, see heaven's got as plan for you!'

That made me realise we all have our own unique journey on this exciting playground that we call Earth.
